The Druze High School for Science and Leadership – Yarka
Location: Yarka, Western Galilee
Client: Yarka Local Council
Completed: 2004
Description: The high school was established to provide gifted students from the Druze sector an education aimed at fostering high academic achievement and leadership. The 9-classroom school is equipped with five state of the art laboratories, a library and resource center and a 140 seat auditorium. The design highlights aspects of green architecture, applying a solar photo-voltaic system for lighting and a rainwater collection system for irrigation. South-facing windows are shaded by aluminum roof overhangs and a slat system allows for natural ventilation.
